Tuan Haji Mohd graduated from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA with a MSc in Administration and later joined Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in October 1988. He has served in many capacities while being employed in BNM. He was a foreign exchange dealer and subsequently as a fund manager managing a US dollar fund in BNM for 10 years. Then, he was assigned to the middle office (Risk Management Division) to monitor the market risk and credit risk of BNM counterparties banks around the world.

After a few years, Tuan Haji Mohd moved to the News Intelligences Unit in the Corporate Communication Department of BNM monitoring all economics and financial news in the local and international mass media and other sources.

In 2001, Tuan Haji Mohd was promoted as an economist and transferred to BNM’s Economics Department. He was in charge of monitoring and analysing the services sector in the country, which includes the finance, insurance, real estate and business services industries. He was also involved in analysing, researching, drafting and formulating economic policies for the country.

In 2009, Tuan Haji Mohd was seconded to SME Corp. Malaysia, a government agency under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative, to assist in setting up the Economics and Policy Division in the agency. He was actively involved in analysing the performance of SMEs, projecting their economic growth as well as drafting and formulating economic policies for SMEs development.

Upon retirement from BNM in 2013, Tuan Haji Mohd continued to be employed by SME Corp. Malaysia. His last post was the Director of Economics and Policy. In early 2019, after his second retirement, this time from SME Corp Malaysia, he was again asked to serve SME Corp. Malaysia as a Special Tasks Senior Officer (Economics) until October 2019.

Currently, Tuan Haji Mohd is a freelance economist, certified adult developmental executive & business coach, real estate practitioner and business consultant. He is also president, treasurer and committee member of various NGOs and cooperatives.
